Kitchen Backsplash Mastery

Precision mosaic and subway tile work that serves as the crown jewel of your kitchen remodel.

Elevating Your Kitchen’s Aesthetic

A kitchen backsplash is more than a functional moisture barrier; it is the visual centerpiece of your home. At True Craft Tile & Stone, we understand that the kitchen is the heart of the household, and our backsplash installations are designed to reflect that importance. Whether you prefer the timeless appeal of white subway tile or the intricate complexity of hand-laid glass mosaics, our 35+ years of experience ensures a flawless finish.

Precision is our baseline. We utilize advanced laser-leveling technology to ensure that every horizontal line is perfectly straight, even if your countertops have minor imperfections. Our master installers specialize in symmetrical layouts, ensuring that "cuts" at the corners or under cabinets are balanced and visually pleasing.

The Technical Advantage

Proper backsplash installation requires a deep understanding of substrate preparation. Many contractors skip the critical step of ensuring the drywall is flat and free of oils or grease before setting tile. We utilize premium modified thinsets that offer superior bond strength, ensuring your tiles will never shift or crack over time.

Waterproof Integrity

We treat the area behind the sink with extra care, ensuring silicone-based caulking at the countertop junction to prevent water from reaching the cabinets.

Zero-Mess Guarantee

We protect your countertops, flooring, and appliances with heavy-duty masking. Your kitchen stays clean and functional throughout the process.

Backsplash FAQ

Expert insights from True Craft Tile & Stone.

At True Craft, we value your time. A standard backsplash usually takes **2 to 3 days**. We set the tile on day one, allow the thinset to cure, and return for grouting and final cleaning. You can still use your kitchen in the evenings.
This is a common mistake made by inexperienced installers. We use **box extenders** and precision cuts to ensure your electrical outlets sit flush against the new tile surface. This ensures your faceplates fit perfectly and look professional, rather than being recessed into the wall.
We prefer a high-end finish. Unless you specify otherwise, we typically use **Schluter-Systems aluminum or stainless steel profiles**. These provide a clean, modern edge that protects the tile from chipping and looks significantly better than plastic bullnose or unfinished edges.
Countertops are rarely 100% level. With 35 years of experience, we know how to "hide" these imperfections. We use **laser leveling** to establish a true horizontal line and subtly scribe the bottom row of tiles so the pattern remains visually straight across the entire kitchen.
While we are master installers, we are happy to share what we've seen work best. We can help you decide between **Herringbone, Offset, or Stacked patterns** and suggest grout colors that will either blend in for a seamless look or pop for high contrast.
We **never** install tile over old tile. We remove the old materials and ensure the drywall substrate is perfectly flat and clean. If the wall is damaged during demo, we repair it to ensure your new backsplash is laser-straight.
In high-use kitchens, we utilize **Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA** or epoxy grouts. These are water-repellent and stain-resistant. For natural stone, we apply a professional-grade sealer to prevent grease absorption.
